My Top 5 Las Vegas Strip Hotel/Casinos

Caesars Palace NightImage via WikipediaMany people have a difference of opinion regarding what makes a great hotel/casino experience. I look at numerous things to determine what I think is the best. Price is taken into account, so is location, proximity to other hotels I like to frequent, restaurants on site,  shows within walking distance and last but not least, the Race and Sports book.

These are my Top Five:

Caesars Palace Las Vegas, Nevada. Olea europae...Image via Wikipedia

Number One: Caesars Palace - Although the Sports Book is not what it once was before all the new additions of the Casino etc, it is still a nice place to play the horses or hang out during large sporting events such as the Kentucky Derby or Super Bowl. The hotel has class, period. The location is good being on the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Flamingo. Mirage and Bellagio are within easy walking distance. So is city Center, Planet Hollywood, Bally's, Flamingo and Harrahs. Great restaurants and entertainment headliners are some of the best in Las Vegas.

The Mirage viewed from the Venetian.Image via WikipediaNumber Two: The Palazzo - Great rooms, classy hotel and many great choices for restaurants. The Lagasse Stadium Sports Book makes me re-think somewhat my top choice. You are close to Fashion Mall, Treasure and The Wynn & Encore.

Bally's Hotel and Casino. Las Vegas, NV, USA –...Image via WikipediaNumber Three: Bally's - I know, you are saying to yourself, Bally's? well do not ignore this somewhat older hotel and casino. There are some great deals to be had here. It is actually connected to the Paris Hotel so this makes it a two for one in my mind. Great great location. The big reason I am sold is the Sports Book. It is my home away from home during March Madness.

The casino is too large for my taste but the location at the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd adds to what is a very nice location for a grand stay overall. Many restaurants to choose from, bars and excellent entertainment. The Sports Book being  near the fron entrances is much better now than when it was hidden around a corner. There is actually balcony seating for the sports book.

Number Five: The Mirage - This is another great hotel and casino. Excellent rooms, great scenery, and plenty of restaurant choices. The entertainment is excellent. The Sports Book is nice being close to the entrance so if needed you can jump across the street to Harrahs or walk next door to Caesar's to get a better line on the Big Game.
